From the time Hively Construction was founded in 1986 to the present, we have seen our employee base increase from just 2 to nearly 100. As we continue to expand and grow, Hively Construction Company is now able to handle more volume than ever before, utilizing state-of-the-art technologies and a solid work ethic. Our current and past contracts represent prominent names in their respective industries and include schools, banks, strip plazas, prisons, institutions, commercial & industrial warehouses, office and retail facilities.
It is my promise and intention to provide the finest quality work conceivable in the most expedient manner possible. I am truly proud of our accomplishments thus far and am looking forward to many continued years of success.
Lee R. Hively, Jr.
Founder
Lee founded the company in April of 1986. He was a 1974 graduate of Youngstown State University with a bachelor’s degree in Business Administration and a lifelong resident of Canfield, Ohio. Lee worked as a laborer in the field for 9 years serving as Foreman and Job Superintendent, and then got involved in the Estimating and Project Management aspect of construction. Then, in 1986 began Hively Construction.
He was very involved in many local organizations. Lee was past president of The Youngstown Shrine Club, a member of the board for The Erie Hospital for Burned and Crippled Children, The Builder’s Association, The Chamber of Commerce, The Canfield Conservation Club, The Jesters, Al Koran, The Penguin Club at Youngstown State University, The Ice Castle Scholarship Fund at Youngstown State University, and he was a huge supporter of The Canfield Local Schools.
Project Manager/Estimator
Ryan joined Hively Construction in 1996. He is a graduate of Canfield High School in 1996. Ryan oversees various types of projects for our company, while concentrating on the day to day operations of each job. Ryan was the Past President of the Youngstown Shrine Club, a member of the Ice Castle Scholarship Fund and a member of the Builder’s Association.
Estimator/Project Management, & Purchasing
Bryan joined our team in June of 1995. He is a 1996 Youngstown State University graduate with a B.S.A.S. in Civil Engineering and a minor in Mathematics. Bryan is responsible for estimating, project management and purchasing for all of his projects. Bryan brings energy and enthusiasm to our company and is a great team player. He handles our Pre-engineered Metal Building division, and has handled the largest pre-engineered buildings in this area. Bryan also handles conventional, industrial, institutional and governmental jobs at Hively Construction.
Office Manager
Becky has been with the company since 1996. She is a 2003 graduate of Youngstown State University with a bachelor’s degree in Business Management. Becky handles the day to day operations of the office, including, payroll, accounts payable, accounts receivable, workers compensation, union reporting and general accounting. She also assists the project managers and estimators. She is our safety coordinator and handles our OSHA policies. Becky is also on the Board of Directors for the Better Business Bureau.
Superintendent
Rob has been with the organization since 1990. He is a 1991 Canfield High School graduate. Rob is a union Carpenter Journeyman out of the Carpenters Local 171, and is an active member that holds his 30 Hour OSHA Safety card, as well as serving as a stewart for the union. Mr. Hively is an active member of the Youngstown Shrine Club.
Superintendent
Hugh has been with our company since it’s inception in 1986. Hugh is a Journeyman Ironworker out of Local 207, and has served as our main field superintendent since he began here. He is a 1971 Canfield High School graduate, and has also served in the U.S. Military. Hugh carries the 30 Hour OSHA Safety card. He is an active member of the Youngstown Shrine Club, The Ice Castle Scholarship Fund at Youngstown State University and the Canfield Conservation Club. Hugh oversees every job that we have going, to ensure that they are well staffed and progressing as they should be, on a day to day basis.
Superintendent
Joe joined the company in 1995. He is a 1985 graduate of Youngstown State University with a Bachelor of Science in Applied Science in Civil Engineering Tech. Joe has served as project superintendent since he joined the company in 1995. Joe has a wide variety of experience including a vast knowledge of sitework.
